LGPE on Monday, March 16th – Georgia Music Educators Association Choral Performance Evaluations

On Monday, March 16th, the Walton Chorus will participate in the GMEA Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE). You will find specific details and the agenda for each chorus at the bottom of this page. The schedule for each chorus is different.

The GMEA Choral Evaluations are an important part of our curriculum and are considered to be our end of course test.

The goals of the GMEA Choral Performance Evaluations are:

  • To promote through evaluation, advice, and suggestion, the development of musical knowledge as expressed in performance,
  • To raise the standards of musicianship, technical knowledge, and literature selection of performers, and
  • To offer students and teachers the opportunity of extended listening to the best work of peer groups from other schools.

Walton Chorus Recordings from 2018 LGPE

Congratulations to all of our students for continuing our tradition of exemplary performances at Choral Evaluations!  Our eight choirs earned 28 Superior (the highest) ratings and 4 Excellent (the next highest) ratings in choral performance and music reading.  The judges were so complimentary of our students.  Below are some of the judges’ comments for our choirs, followed by the recordings of our performances so that you may hear their outstanding work.

Congratulations to all Choirs for stellar performances at the Georgia Music Educators Association District XII High School Choral Evaluations!  Our eight choirs earned 28 Superior ratings (the highest possible) in performance and music reading and 4 Excellent ratings (next highest).  We are incredibly proud of the tradition of outstanding choral performance and music reading our students displayed.  Many thanks to our amazing Boosters, Student Leaders and Parents who moved, fed and made sure all students looked as good as they sounded.  It was a wonderful day for Walton chorus and the judges and clinicians were effusive in their praise of our work.

GMEA Choral Evaluations 2017

Congratulations to all 8 Walton Choruses for stellar performances at the Georgia Music Educators Association Choral Evaluations. Seven choirs earned all “Superior” (the highest) ratings and one choir earned two “Superior” and two “Excellent” (the second highest) ratings!

Thanks to our Walton Chorus Boosters for providing all the support necessary for our success: music, accompanists, clinicians, food! and water, chaperones – we could not do it without you!
